What Are You Listening To?

Did someone already post this, as the cover shot feels familiar ? Couldn't find anything by using search.

A burned copy from Robbie from quite a few weeks ago.

First full-length offering from a pair of Swedish sisters, released in 2010.

The Söderberg sisters sing beautiful harmonies throughout this collection of vaguely alternative Country-tinged Folky Americana. The voice of whichever of the sisters sings lead bears an uncanny resemblance to that of Joanna Newsom both in sound and phrasing.

Lovely melodies on pretty much all the songs means that this album really hit the spot for me.

Straight onto the Buy List.

I seem to remember you having a small (pardon the pun) part in it.

It's hardcore punk with free jazz saxophones thrown in

I think you can see why I'd love it

KASABIAN "velociraptor!" cd,2011.

i won this one several weeks ago via a Facebook competition from the Australian Record Industry Association FB page for correctly picking in order the top 5 singles in our charts for the following week...and that was the first time i entered it!also won another five cd's,a copy of Foster The People's album on vinyl also and the 12" single of their "pumped up kicks single"
anyway,
it was good to win numerous albums that i didnt own and probably would never got around to purchase.
so,
i have heard of these guys, seen them on Jools Holland's show several times...but they have never been really popular outside of the UK...and judging by the quality of this, their fourth or fifth album, it is hard to see why IMO.
sure there are a couple of duds on this one,the first and last tracks actually, the rest is very good indeed with three brilliant tracks IMO.
this stuff i s good alternative rock IMO, mixed with what i would call 'middle eastern' chants, maybe even a sitar sounding instrument in several tracks.
these guys certainly have cockyness, swagger and self belief much in the same vein as the Gallagher brothers, and are known like Liam and Noel to indulge in all the excesses of the rock n roll lifestyle...
IMO this is a very good album that i can see growing on me over time and it has encouraged me to seek out their back catalogue....

Highly recommended by both CRAZY and SteveO. Rightly so mates. This disc was a cost prohibitive $35 for me, as it
was only available as an import. I will never pay $35 for a cd when I can find ones I want for $5. Told CRAZY-HORSE
of my predicament, and damned if he didn't purchase the damn thing and mail it to me. Now that's a brother. Just
missing my love mark, but that will surely change after a few spins. Band Of Horses and the National come to mind
for me. Two of my favorites from last year. Not much out there on this band, formed in Australia in 2009. Only this
one full album in the tank. Hope the follow up is as good as this one. Only popular in the homeland at this point,
but they did tour the UK with Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons. Surprised to see this album was recorded in
Nashville, with My Morning Jacket producer Joe Chiccarelli. No details as to how that came about. The band received
7 nominations at the 2011 ARIA Awards, winning 5, so obviously they have hit the big time there. Just hope they
make it to these shores and the best is yet to come for them.

Worst Track - Percy Warner Park

Best Track - Part Time Believer

We've run out of reason
Losing sight of what it's supposed to be
A part time believer, till truth
We've somehow conceded this self-evasive solitude
It means way too much to me

And I hope you know, how lucky you are

And I remember sitting back on my balcony
I was'a listening to the Rolling Stones
See I was waiting for my dad to come home from work
So I could show him all the chords that I'd learnt
See I was under the impression I was gonna lead
Some kind of simple understated life
But now I'm living in the shadows of a memory
And I hope so, man I hope so

It's been way too long
It seems that I can't celebrate my meaning
For I am too young to mourn
And if it won't release
It pulls and it pushes me
Til I whither, til I whither, til I whither

And I hope you know, how lucky you are

Oh I remember sitting back on my balcony
I was'a listening to the Rolling Stones
See I was waiting for my dad to come home from work
So I could show him all the chords that I'd learnt
See I was under the impression I was gonna lead
Some kind of simple understated life
But now I'm living in the shadows of a memory
And I hope so, man I hope so

Oh you dare,
You run like a lion
To defend your senses
And oh it seems
It cuts at the core
It's not the same my friend no more
Oh no
