What Are You Listening To?
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:...noe that is weird, Dani and I were discussing Radar Love and Golden Earring in general the other day...

Listen up Crazy Man - This time I do NOT want to know what you were doing at the time you were discussing Radar Love. And put those satellite dishes and aerials away. You two are going to do yourselves an injury.
Oh yes - lose the Flash Gordon outfit too. That's so Eighties. The Elvis outfit can stay......

You know they wouldn't leave their pop single hit off the album,J! ...I agree...too much air play ....it's boring like Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple ..imho!!!!!
Jerome Wrote:Golden Earring - Live. Not bad after all these years. Great version of Candy's Going Bad. Also like Fighting Windmills quite a bit. They could have left Radar Love off this album. I am sick of hearing it. Everything else is fine.

I agree. As a kid I could not stop playing SOTW but I can barely listen to it now. Familiarity breeds contempt. I seem to remember this subject coming up before quite recently. Having said that some albums date quite well. Was listening to Carole King's 'Tapestry' the other day, and it still sounds fresh.

Funny story in the early seventies...the clubs were closed ...month long liquor strike so I decided to buy all of the Moody Blues albums to finish off my collection and the four of us spent the weekends listening to MB albums on headphones at home !!!! Must have looked strange with four sets of large headphones dangling from the stereo system!!!..lol...and yes definitely Music Head ...the Moody Blues MUST be listened to on headphones!

you are perfectly correct in your description of Tapestry Jerome....still sounds as fresh as it did when i first heard it in the late seventies via my mum's album ..one of the greatest collection of songs ever IMO! sounds bloody great on cd!

MEATLOAF "bat out of hell II:back into hell" cd, 1993.

yep!...the Meat is back under the articulate wings of producer Jim Steinman on this one....
great to see these two working together again as a team for the first time since 1981's "deadringer" album, without Steinman always appears to be like a bat without its ultrasonic radar operational IMO!.
but here he is in fine form, some newly written classic songs for this one and some covers from Steinmans 1981 "bad for good" album, pretty hard to give any cover version the full "***", but in this case it is justified as these songs are simply meatloaf songs, initially written for Steinman for him but used on his own album instead, quite simply, if you like the epic songs of Meat's first two albums then you will also love this one as i do and its impossible to criticise Meatloaf when he is working with the great Jim Steinman who always brings out the best in him everytime!
and you just got to love song titles that read like novels, pretty sure only Jim couls get away with being this pretentious...but then again so are his songs!

I LOVE THIS ALBUM
