WOW !!!....perhaps one may think of GRUNGE as Nirvana! If this is grunge and I am sure it is Music Head, I really love the sound of Dishwalla...a band to pursue !!!...thanks! listening to Counting Blue Cars and Charlie Brown's Parents...great stuff!

California grunge band that has yet to break and time has probably run out. Four albums in the books with the last
coming in 2005. Debut album here that wasn't too bad. Never followed up on them though. Toured with Goo Goo Dolls
when the album came out. Billboard gave them a rock song of the year award for Counting Blue Cars off of here which
went to #15 on the chart. One of my two love tracks along with Charlie Brown's Parents which gets my fav. That was a
single also but bombed. The album made it to a weak #89. Only one trackI do't much care for, so not bad for a debut.
Follow up albums have not done much. The band have had a few songs featured in movies and tv shows but nothing has
popped the bubble. Might be time to go back to those day jobs. It was a nice run.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Only For So Long

Best Track - Charlie Brown's Parents

I can't hear
What you're saying
What you're doing to me
Can't you see
It would take the jaws of
Life to pry open your words...
So pry open your words

I don't want to talk about Elvis
No I don't want
To go on pretending
Because it feels like I'm talking to
Talking to Charlie Brown's Parents
It feels like I'm talking to
A lonely man without a vision
Stuffed his mouth with indecision
Why he's a lonely man without a vision
Stuffed his mouth with indecision
Ooh

Cause I can't hear
What you're saying
What you're doing to me
Can't you see
It would take the jaws of
Life to pry open your words

I don't want to talk about Jesus
And I don't want to go on converting, no
Because it feels like I'm talking to
Talking to Charlie Brown's Parents
It feels like I'm talking to
A lonely man without a vision
Stuffed his mouth with indecision
Why he's a lonely man without a vision
Stuffed his mouth with indecision
Ooh

Why he's a lonely man without a vision
Stuffed his mouth with indecision (2x)

Cause I can't hear
What you're saying
What you're doing to me
Can't you see
It would take the jaws of
Life to pry open your words (repeat)

Times when I just can't
Bring myself to say it loud
'Fraid that what I'll say comes out somehow awry

That is when it seems
We move in circles day to day
Twist the drama of the play to get us by

And it feels like fear
Like I'll disappear
Gets so hard to steer
Yet I go on
Do we need debate
When it seems too late
Like I bleed but wait
Like nothing's wrong

You lift my spirit, take me higher, make me fly,
Touch the moon up in the sky, when you are mine
You lift me higher, take my spirit, make it fly,
Where all new wonders will appear

Like the other day
I thought you won't be coming back
I came to realize my lackluster dreams

And among the schemes
And all the tricks we try to play
Only dreams will hold their sway and defy

When it feels like fear...
Like I'll disappear
Gets so hard to steer
Yet I go on
Do we need debate
When it seems too late
Like I bleed but wait
Like nothing's wrong

You lift my spirit, take me higher, make me fly,
Touch the moon up in the sky, when you are mine
You lift me higher, take my spirit, make it fly,
Where all new wonders will appear, oooohhhh

You lift my spirit, take me higher, make me fly,
Touch the moon up in the sky, when you are mine
You lift me higher, take my spirit, make it fly,
Where all new wonders will appear

Take me high
Make me fly

BRIGHT EYES "cassadaga" cd,2007. #4 US, #13 UK

according to their discography at allmusic.com, this is their tenth album...never heard of them till i got this one though from Corey...
well, not really a band, moreso a one man show(Conor Oberst) who gets in musicians as and when he sees fit to do so.
i wouldnt really call this one indi/alt as amazon does, more maybe a mix of alt and folk...but neither one or the other... it does still sound ok though, i can hear bits of Cohen,Dylan throughout this one, oh yeh, even bits of Al's "year of the cat" also.
pretty hard to pick a best track as most are on par with eachother, but nothing stands out as being great, if you know what i mean?

I coulda swore I liked this album. Must be just The Modern Dance. The only two I have. This one didn't turn out too
good. Only four tracks I even like. This one was ten years after their debut of The Modern Dance, and the first
album after a six year break up. Bound to have changed some, for the worse in this case. Pere Ubu is a Cleveland
band formed in the mid 70's that now gets a lot of recognition for the midwest punk scene. Twenty some albums to
their credit, with one showing this year. Not sure I've heard anything since this eighth album, so not sure what
they're up to now. Lead man David Thomas was fun to watch in those early years. Reminds me of David Byrne, with the
on stage theatrics. Didn't even know the band was still around. I'll stick with the debut if I need a dose.

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Rhythm King

Best Track - Something's Gotta Give

You gotta feel sorry for The Guy.
Oh, no reason - just brother feelin.
You gotta feel sorry for The Guy -
no reason but brother feelin.
A man in the rain hat had to have his say,
Live and let live.
The old man watches the water rise.
Man, everybody knows something's gotta give.
Something's gotta give.
And when it goes it starts rollin out of everywhere -
through floorboards,
cracks in walls,
oozin down the chimney, halls -
a real Son of Blob job.
Welcome to our town.
People swept along.
People swept along and how?
With goats,
cats,
dogs and hats,
oozin down the chimney backs -
a real Son of Blob job.

The man in the rain hat had to have his say,
Live and let live.
The old man watches the water rise.
Man, everybody knows something's gotta give.
Something's gotta give.

Something's gotta give.
Nations rise and fall,
dentist appointments forgotten by great and small -
mighty or humble,
wise man or fool,
rivulet or Old Man River.
Flaps flippin out of slots every which-a-way.
And when it goes it starts rollin out of everywhere.
The man in the rain hat had to have his say,
Live and let live.
The old man watches the water rise.
Man, everybody knows something's gotta give.
Something's gotta give.
