![]() LEADER CHEETAH "the sunspot letters" cd,2009. debut set from these guys from Adelaide,SA,Australia... very so-called 'americana' sound here like My Morning Jacket and Band Of Horses, thus very Crazy Horse in places with Neil Young type high-pitched fragile vocals... nothing great on here, but also nothing so bad i do not like neither... the real problem i have is that it does sound too much of a muchness at times, but overall reasonably good, i think the score is probably a touch high(2.0) but with the current rating system i use that is the score... and bugger it!, i knew there would be a lack of links here!!!!!at least i got one of the two best tracks which is a bonus!!!! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: fly, golden arrow pt II best track: wasted life & times or bloodline...(depending on what one i get links for!!) tracks: 1. spirit to the bone ** 2. alibi ** 3. bloodline ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-9JnQnbzS0 video 4. dianne ** 5. the explorer ** 6. wasted life and times ** 7. fly, golden arrow pt I ** 8. rosewater smile ** 9. dont let it pass on by ** 10.fly,golden arrow pt II ** 3s=0 2s=10 1s=0 rating: 2.0

![]() KATE BUSH "the kick inside" cd,1978. Kates debut set... not really sure which genre to put this in???!!! back in 1977/78 disco and punk were the "new" thing, yet this strange mix of soprano vocals, classical music, and occasionally pop music outsold them all...totally out of left-field!!! Wuthering Heights was the biggest selling single worldwide in 1978,yet one wouldnt normally expect this sort of thing to sell in those quantities... pretty sure some of the production on here was done by Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd fame... this is just a superb collection of songs that sound like nothing else i have ever heard, the pitch and control of her vocals is IMO 'perfect' to say the least, the music-the same.... it was a pure delight to hear this one again... my favourite track on here is not the hit single but 'james and the cold gun', a very poppy sounding song somewhere between Elton and The Motels in sound and style. I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: the saxaphone song best track: james and the cold gun tracks: 1. moving *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8v_vcRA9QcE audio 2. the saxaphone song ** 3. strange phenomena ** 4. kite *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwMAG-hXIwc audio 5. the man with the child in his eyes *** 6. wuthering heights *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk-4lXLM34g video 7. james and the cold gun *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGWiiTzVqd4 audio 8. feel it ** 9. oh to be in love ** 10.l'amour looks something like you ** 11.them heavy people *** 12.room for the life *** 13.the kick inside ** 3s=8 2s=5 1s=0 rating: 2.6

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:as a footnote to Kate Bush for JEROME... Not a big fan of her work CH, but do like some of it. Albums I like are Lionheart & The Hounds of Love. I have her latest called Aerial (I think) but have not really listened to it properly despite having it for years now. Gave it a spin once but it did not really grab me. Incidentally she was dicovered by Dave Gilmour who I believe put up the money for her first album (or first demos). I find if I listen to one of her albums then I have to play something completely different next - can't do 2 in a row. Sorry Auntie Kate - I can only manage once a night now..........

Steve, there elements of Kate's music that I find incredible, but I just cannot stomach that high pitched voice for too long. Just me I guess. But I have to admit, as CH says, she popped up out of the blue with a style that has yet to be defined. She is an enigma. Only a handful (pardon the pun) of them around.

^ Yes Jerome her voice like Dylan's and Cohen's is an acquired taste. She has produced an ambitous discography over the last 30 years or so! Her collaborations with Peter Gabriel are quite good so I hear...not familiar with them all that much.

it took me literately years to actually like Kate's album i posted...then one day it all came together and i loved it, i actually like it when albums do that for me,but it doesnt happen as often as i'd like it to....
going back to two artists you guys like, Stones and PF...took me years to like DSOTM for some reason, yet i always loved Division Bell and The Wall...with Stones,i simply cannot get 'into' their studio albums apart from "tattoo you" for some reason. im actually hoping to really like Black Sabbath's "paranoid" album next time it comes out in the rotation after seeing a doco on the making of it(sometimes some background info helps me see things i may have missed previously).

I find these days that I just cannot listen to Blask Sabbath anymore. It's just too dated although I do like 'Technical Ecstasy' for some reason.
