![]() THE MOODY BLUES "to all our childrens, childrens, children" cd,1969 the MB's sixth studio release.... also, their least successful up to that point, not sure why as i think its their best album(well, second best after 'long distance voyager')... a great, great album from the late 1960s, touches of rock, pop, folky sounds all blended perfectly with a touch of psychadelia... pretty rare for me to like an instrumental piece of music...but "beyond" is pretty good IMHO. one of the greatest album ever, by one of rocks forgotten greats..awesome stuff! I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: eyes of a child I best track: eyes of a child II tracks: 1. higher and higher *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChCbewCAk-o audio 2. eyes of a child I ** 3. floating *** 4. eyes of a child II *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpCK8SYBAV0&feature=fvst audio 5. i never thought i'd live to be a hundred ** 6. beyond ** 7. out and in ** 8. gypsy ** 9. eternity road *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKiw9-HLkXU audio 10.candle of life ** 11.sun is still shining *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq-aa9WYtK0 audio 12.i never thought i'd live to be a million *** 13.watching and waiting ** 3s=6 2s=7 1s=0 rating: 2.4 next up: Rolling Stones "some girls"cd,1978......

![]() [/URL] THE ROLLING STONES "some girls" cd, 1978....#2 uk, #1 us, #3 au. another of my birthday voucher buys....yeh, i know what youre all going to say..."but he doesnt like the stones"...and for the most part you are correct, but its impossible not to like some material from an artist who has been around fifty years....right? i grew up listening to this from my mum's vinyl collection, decided it was time to get it.... IMO, made a trilogy of classy albums from 78-80, this one started it off, followed by "emotional rescue" then "tattoo you", i have the other two on vinyl and the latter on cd, just need ER on cd now to have my three favourite(and the only three) Stones albums i truly like/love. this one is not really their usual sound, but instead a nice blend of pop,dance/disco,ballads,country and a splash of reggae thrown in for good measure.... all-up, a great album IMO,and the new remastered deluxe edition i have includes a bonus disc of twelve songs recorded around the same time but to this date have been previously unavailable... ,anyway, i'll review this one then add links for the remainder, with a brief description of those bonus track(which i must say are for the most part quite good).. ![]() JETHRO TULL "war child" cd,1974. #14 UK, #2 US, #9 AU. a recent convert to all things Ian anderson & Co, and loving almost every minute of it.... this another i bought some time ago, thanks to recommendation from Jerome-Esquire! this one varies slightly from the the other albums i now own, due simply to the fact that most of these tracks are relatively short by Tull's standards, most clocking in at just over 4 minutes... this was originally concieved to be the soundtrack to a movie to be written by Tull, and based around the tracks herewithin. Anderson had got the actors together, the director and additional script writers and took the idea to Hollywood, apparently the movie moguls wanted him to use American actors, scrpitwriters and also demanded he seek out a competant well known US director, as Anderson puts it in the linnear notes in the cd....he told them to 'shove it',went back to England and gave up on the idea because he wanted to do it his way. album also contains seven additional tracks that recorded for the album but due to the constraints of vinyl albums they were left in his vaults until he remastered this album! ![]() Can't say much for this one. Bought because I was a Genesis fan. Found out I wasn't a Mike Rutherford fan (excluding Living Years). His vocals just don't do it for me. This album was made after Genesis' Abacab tour was wrapped up. The group was still together, so this was one of those side projects. Mike's second as a solo act. Not really solo. In fact I just realized how misused that word is in music. There are very few solo albums. Wait wait, I'm getting off track again. Stewart Copeland is on this album. Didn't know that till now. The writing and delivery is not good on most of these. Only liked 3 of the 8 tracks. Maxine (said about a hundred times) was released as a single but failed. Assuming Halfway There was a single also, as there is a video for it. The album got a #23 in the UK and a weak #145 stateside. Mike gave up the solo act and formed Mike & The Mechanics while still a member of Genesis.
