Nice one MH ! I love Sparks music and I get a hoot when I look at the guy with the goofy Hitler like moustache ! ..lol Music Head Wrote:from my library (vinyl)

My favorite Sparks album, and I have quite a few. Five love tracks and a favorite is a tough
call. Sparks was an LA group that eventually became brothers Ron and Russell Mael's vehicle for
their own brand of quirky rock. They never hit the big time, but they are still out there.
After touring in the UK and getting nice reviews in the music press the brothers decided to
relocate to London signed with a new label and this was their first release after that. The
move paid off as this album made #4 there and scored two hit singles. Not as well accepted here
at #101 and they never scored that high again in the UK, although remaining more popular in
Europe. Interesting that I just posted a Nirvana song and Kurt Cobain says this is one of his
favorite albums of all time. I really need to get it on cd.

Isn't it amazing and fun Crazy how sometimes we discover a hidden obscure musical treasure !!!!! Years ago I would raid the cheap record bins and come out like a bandit....if you knew a fair amount about music you could grab records that didn't sell well because they were obscure or not really top 40 commercial! SPECIAL PATROL "the golden meal" cd,2004
i know nothing about these guys and they must be so obscure i cannot find anything on allmusic.com or on wikki about them...
i dont know where they come from but a couple of lines on the linnear notes suggest they are either Australian or that the album was recorded here(its not really clear).
i think i picked this up out of a discount bin for a couple of bucks because i liked the cover and i had a bit of spare change in my pocket at the time that i wanted to get rid of...
this album is 'soft' indie-rock sounding....
the vocalist has a bit of a Noel Gallagher(no not liam) quality to his vocals, even some of the lines he sings could have a Gallagher feel to them...
thats about all i can say about this without any other info, cant even find these guys in the charts from US,UK or here so maybe they dont really exist and this album is a figment of my imagination???

I found this album over on Amazon, but they have the title as The Golden Mean (??)... Anyway, there's not much info on it there either, but here is a link to listen to 30 second samples of the songs. It's hard to judge music from small snippets like this, but I thought they sounded pretty good! http://www.amazon.com/The-Golden-Mean/dp...097&sr=1-5

No, I wouldn't say that Crazy Horse, Amazon has been known to mess up on album titles every so often... The way the album title is written on that particular cover makes it a tad hard to read what the last letter is... L or N?

No idea where to put a gospel recording. Seems like an alternative to me so here it goes.
Follow up to yesterdays best of set. I guess this is a best of his gospel recordings. The wife
has already confiscated this one. When the P's come up again I'll have to get it back. Tracks
recorded from '65 to '76. Nothing out there on this one so I have to wing it. Wings are broken.
Once again with 25 tracks on this I will not include links for any other than my favorite. The
only one that hit the charts, #3 in the states and #1 in the UK.

tell you guys what....i'd rather listen to Elvis singing gospel than his r+r, or country pop material..
Elvis only ever recieved three Grammy's in his lifetime...all three were for his Gospel/Spiritual recordings, amazing stuff!
the songs on this collection sort of go from 1964ish to around 1972

JO JO ZEP & THE FALCONS "im in a dancing mood:the best of" cd, 2007.
i remember these guys from the early 1980s...an Aussie outfit.
think i only have one of their singles on 7"vinyl and thats about it so i had to get this when it came out...unfortunately though, they are not as good as i remembered them to be, lead vocalist Joe Camilleri ended up the main man behind Black Sorrows in the mid 1980s and beyond...
this one is full of funk/pop fusion, blues rock and touches of calypso/reggae in places...
not bad overall but nothing great neither, worst track has to be the abysmal Bacharach cover 'walk on by'...it just doesnt fit with the rest of their singles...
for a more detailed account of The Falcons please click on the link to wikkipedia for overall summary http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo_Jo_Zep_%26_The_Falcons
