What Are You Listening To?
I like all the songs on this album! and also the one you didn't like or your worst track, Music dude! I enjoyed the Hammond organ and chorus. As for the Sally Hatchet video, I wouldn't want to mess with her!...lol

Joshua Tillman is his real name. I guess he doesn't like it. Former drummer for Fleet Foxes and the
music is similar. Laid back folky alt-rock. He cites his influences as Nick Drake, Gram Parsons and
Pete Seeger, but I see no similarity to any of those here. Shows seven albums as a solo act prior to
this one and his FF stint, but they are said to be much different. This one is the first under the
FJM name and is a grower for sure for me as most of this type of music is. Only one track fails and 2
love tracks. Strange packaging here with 2 bulky fold out booklets that unfold so many times you're
never sure if you got it back to the original form. Lyrics on one side of one of those with the other
3 sides appearing to be a novel. If I ever run out of books to read I guess I could pull this out. In
other words it will never be read. The lyrics are good though.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

DAVE STEWART "the blackbird diaries" cd, 2010

former principle writer/musician from Eurythmics and Tourists...
this is Dave's sixth solo studio set...
a cross between blues, blues rock, country, folk, reggae etc, quite eclectic mix really...
was written and recorded over five days in Nashville,Tn...
very little wrong with this album, a sublime collection of songs IMO...
all the players on here have 'history' with impressive CV's, including working with Neil Young,CSN,David Crosby,Neil Diamond,Linda Ronstadt,Hank Jnr,Dixix Chicks, Randy Travis,Ricky Scaggs etc etc, the list simply goes on!...
guest vocals on here by Stevie Nicks,Martina McBride,Colbie Collait,Secret Sisters...
Stewart describes this album as a cross between Dylan,Cohen,Tom Petty,Lou Reed and John Cash...he is quite right as all those influences can be heard at times, i do however, hear bits of solo Mark Knopfler especially on "one way ticket to the moon...
this is a near perfect album IMO, and one that anyone who loves well written and produced songs would love also....
i strongly urge all members of MD who read this to listen/view ALL the links i have posted, you wont be dissapointed, infact, i wouldnt be surprised if you go and order the cd after listening to the tracks!
