PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS "helen wheels" b/w "country dreamer" 1973

"helen wheels" was a stand alone single in the UK and here but was included on the Us "band on the run" album...
half decent rock n roll song but certainly not classic McCartney IMO..."b" side is a light breezy country tinged track that would have not been out of place on his second solo album "ram"...single managed to get to #17 here, and thats about all it deserved IMO, simple run of the mill track...

PAUL McCARTNEY "wonderful christmastime" b/w "rudolph the red nosed reggae" 1979

whimsical piece of pop-pap and a piece of pure crap IMO...stand this one up against George's "my sweet lord" or John's "happy xmas(war is over)", and this one pales into insignificance!...and the "b" side isnt any better, its a reggae tinged instrumental of the old christmas standard 'rudolph the red nosed reindeer"...
this is Macca's single worst 'single' release as a solo artist IMO, and im a huge fan!single reached #8 in the UK which back then was pretty ordinary for a macca/wings solo single!, and only made it to #61 here...

CHARLENE "ive never been to me" b/w "somewhere in my life" 1982

had almost forgotten i had this song, and most certainly havent heard it since the early 1980s...
wow!, i love this beatiful ballad from Charlene, the record label says "1976" on it, im assuming it was recorded back then, maybe even got released back then, and if it did, i cannot find any chart placings until it was a hit in 1982...this gal, must surely be classed as a classic "one hit wonder", "b" side isnt too bad neither, the single reached #1 here back in the day and rightfully so, it is one of those "lost classics" from that period of music IMO

John's Christmas song Happy Christmas is a classic not Paul's!...as you said CH!

CHAPS "McRawhide" b/w "rawhide" 1982

sort of comedy version of the old rawhide theme by these Scottish lads, thus, obviously the "Mc" infront of the 'rawhide'...
this will never go down as a rock classic but its good lighthearted value..."b" side is a straight up cover of rawhide...
single made it to #14 here back in the day...

TRACIE "i cant leave you alone" b/w "19-the wickham mix" 1986

Tracie was a UK blue-eyed soul singer from the early 1980s, discovered by Paul Weller as a teenager, first appeared as a backing singer on Style Council's debut single 'speak like a child'...
she had a few minor hits from around 83-86, but she was better than chart success showed...
"a" side is good pop from that period, "b" side is an environmentalist type song about 19 protesters who were jailed in the UK for freeing animals from a farm battery back in the day, its also not a bad track.
single failed to chart here...

THE STYLE COUNCIL "it didnt matter" b/w "all year round" 1987

boring, mundane single from their terrible "cost of loving" album...
flat vocals, horrible eighties synths, just about says it all!
"b" side is a bit better, slightly jazz tinged number, but still not really up to par for Weller IMO as a longtime fan...
single did actually make it in the charts here with a high position of #48 which was more than it really deserved!

THE DOORS "light my fire" b/w "the crystal ship" 1968

yeh, yeh, okay...i do own a single or two by these guys!
this single isnt too bad IMO,but im not a fan by any means...
both sides are typically Doors, think i prefer the "b" side to the "a" side, but still, both are good songs...
was actually surprised this one only made it to #22 on the charts out here, if radio airplay was a guide to the sales of this one it should have been a #1 hit!
