5th album - #2 US, #73 UK, #13 Australia, #3 Canada
Singles - American Bad Ass - #25 UK

Follow up to his huge album Devil Without A Cause. Guess they wanted to get him out there while he was hot. While in the midst of a proper
studio album they decided to release this hodgepodge of new songs, unreleased tunes, demos, old cuts, and re-recordings. The re-recordings are
from his 2 previous albums to Devil Without A Cause. The change from rapper to rocker was taking place. The only single released was a new
recording, American Bad Ass which only got action in the UK. Surprised the album sold as well as it did. I'm guessing people thought they had
missed something with the previous albums. I don't think they did.

The Kids 2nd best selling album after Devil Without A Cause. It is the last of my Kid Rock albums, and I don't see buying any more. His redneck
side comes out on a few tracks on this one, but you still get the rap and the rock. He tries to put it all together but it just doesn't work for
me. Duet with Sheryl Crow on Picture was a pleasant surprise and it even made the country chart and was his first gold single, along with
becoming Crow's second most successful single. I have to go with the kickass Forever as my best and it only charted down under. Good taste them Aussie blokes.

Jerome Wrote:A visionary if ever there was one. I am amazed at how few people outside of Africa like reggae. In SA this was the de facto music for many years. I have many, many happy memories of grooving to this man's music for many years. Saw his son Ziggi in Amsterdam in 2000 - fantastic concert. I left singing 'Africa Unite' all the way home on the tram. A great memory.

i have a Bob Marley best of set on cassette somewhere...i used to like it/him.
not such a fan of any reggae now, infact i usually turn over the radio station when any reggae gets played...even the psuedo-reggae from the UK 1980s groups turns me off.

i just feel that its one of those limited genres/styles...like rap, it either is what it is or its not(if you know what i mean?!)

IAN ANDERSON "thick as a brick-II/taab2" cd 2012

career stats:

studio albums(solo):6
single releases.......:nil

this album stats: #35 UK, #55 US

fifth solo album from the mastermind behind Jethro Tull...
this one is his solo effort to make a return to the classic "thick as a brick"...
the album chronicles the adult life of Gerald Bostock, the young lad who was the lead character in that original Jethro Tull album.
the whole concept of it is very good with Anderson giving various scenario's to exactly how Gerald grew up depending upon which paths in life he took.
there are several possible routes as to how Gerald evolved as an adult from a banker right through to being a street bum.
the music is typical JT stuff, encompassing everything from their folky flute music and on to their rock sounds.
unfortunately though, i cant see any of these tracks standing on their own outside of the album,it is a story and to listen to individual tracks would be like trying to get the feel of a book from reading one chapter!
theres a couple of parts of the album that i dont like, and a couple i love but...
all up, a very good album, but it must be treated as such to work!
im not posting links here because solitary tracks dont do the album justice IMO.
so im giving this one a score of 2.1 or 7/10

Camel - Rajaz. Beautiful, melodic guitar work without all the flash and nonsense. Just a guitarist who knows how to carry a theme with a handful of notes. And he has the perfect tone to match.

And while on the subject - just discovered this - never knew there was a live version of Nude. Prefer the studio version but the live version does have it's moments. http://youtu.be/C4qW9kKGc94

But this is Camel at their best live - http://youtu.be/Xl4arJwDNmE The opening track has to be one of the most unorthodox pieces I have ever heard. Musically it does not make sense but it's absolutely brilliant. Catches you completely unawares. This is one for SteveO to listen to when he's in the mood. The album just kind of unfolds as you go along. Love it.

And after this I am going to make a diversion into an album I have not played for years - George Benson - Weekend in LA. Love this album. By far his best IMO. You can actually feel the audience grooving to this. Amazing piece of work.
