What Are You Listening To?
Pretty decent album ! They created a different sound. I wonder if they're still active ?

BUSH "sixteen stone" cd,1994.

career stats:
studio albums: 5
singles..........: 17

this album: #42 UK, #5 AU, #4 US, #7 CAN

singles:
"everything zen"...........#99 UK, #41 AU, #5 CAN,
"little things"................#184 UK, #2 CAN
"comedown".................#45 AU,#1 CAN,#30 US
"glycerine"...................#5 AU, #3 CAN, #28US
"machinehead".............#48 UK, #40 CAN,#30 US

weird isnt it?...
i thought these guys were American until ten minutes ago when i found out theyre from the UK...
this was the debut album from these..
obviously thought they were from the US because of their grunge sounds...i mean grunge is grunge is grunge...its a genre that all sounds the same all the time!
best thing about the band IMO, is the vocalists vocals, fits somewhere beteeen the mellowness/softness of Vedder and the screechy screams of Cobain.
first time i heard the slow burner "glycerine" on the radio in 1994 my ears pricked up, i'd never heard nothing like it, there were some interesting music styles happening in that period
and songs like that one,Alanis' "you oughta know",Blur's "country house", Oasis' "whatever" etc bought me back into music...which i'd given up on in the late 1980s...
anyway...i still love "glycerine" and one other off this album, but half of the album is crappy grunge, thus the two love tracks take this one from a real low score to a scrape in 'like' which is a bit deceiving on the total worth of this album!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM(apparently?)

New Jersey band hit the big leagues with this debut album. Ho Hey was the driving force. Stupid title but it sounds good. The album has gone
platinum here and gold in the only other countries that matter. The break came from a spot for that song on the CW series Hart Of Dixie which
got the social media buzzing. It got them a contract with an indie and then Ho Hey was released as a single. Sold out shows were soon to follow.
The band will be hard pressed on the follow up to match these debut sales figures. Hope we don't have a sophomore slump. I like the album but
not as much as I was expecting to. All folk flavored tunes and they like to start slow with some build ups to a faster tempo. One other love
track besides the big hit and one dud.

I thought I liked this. Didn't happen this time. Maybe it was the Juliana Hatfield factor that was the original attraction. Only gets audible
vocals on 1 track anyway. Evan Dando was the head man and the only original member on all albums, the last one in 2009. This is the only one I
have so I must not have liked them too much. It is their best selling album. It and the follow up are the only ones to go gold. I see that my
copy is a re-release to include the single of Mrs. Robinson, a minor hit. Sort of like that punky version. A lot of short tracks on the album
making it come in under 30 minutes. Some of them not long enough to get into.

Absolutely horrible. No idea why I have it. Can't imagine that I liked something on here at any time, giving it a perfect comatose score. It is
the Florida bands debut album and scored rather high on the charts considering there were no charting singles to push it. Out of their 6 albums
this is the third best selling going 2X platinum. Unreal to me that this could have sold that well. Allmusic was on board with 4 stars. The band
got their break opening for Korn and in some of the tracks they come across. Seeing how those Korn albums scored, it's no surprise how this came
out. Thankfully I wised up early with these guys and never purchased another album. Looks like they have a new album scheduled for July but not
for me.
