What Are You Listening To?
Good advice re the alternative option, thanks!

Funny, thinking about it, I recall a lot of Joe Jackson’s songs. They do stick - but he lost me at Jumpin’ Jive. Can’t help finding something appealing about this clip though, something I’m sure not many would attempt live, especially knowing very well that the high notes are out of range! Maybe it's the honesty. He plays Bowie’s Life on Mars - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-qtzIeiQj8

that was an awesome effort(and would have been for anyone) to cover that track...which also happens to be one of my favourite Bowie songs.

this is laid-back blues from whiteboys so guess its not real blues

Wait, wait--If this was by Eric Bibb, it'd be OK? There's more than a tinge of reverse-racism in this statement or maybe self-hatred. Do I have to post that Mitch Ryder song on this subject yet again? Sorry if my criticism is a bit stinging but I run into that attitude all the time and I'm up to here with it. If yours was really mockery or some kind of humor that wasn't obvious, I apologize.

I admit to being unduly sensitive on this issue and not being able to see other than broad-brush humor. What more can I say? You can see his humor because you know him better--others obviously including me are not so knowledgeable or discerning. I find it better to not utter that which can be taken out of context, not on in semi-public arena anyway.
Not exactly on topic but true story: a friend and a good man was the organist in an R&B/funk band, the only Cauc. Coming back from an out-of-state gig one night, the Black folks were slingin' the N-word thick and fast. My friend uttered that word once. They put him and his gear out at the next gas plaza. (I may have told this story here in another Thread but it shows that I'm sensitive maybe hyper-sensitive on the race issue from all perspectives.). Again, I apologize to Crazy-Horse for having provoked.

It's weird ... I used to be able to jump , and even shoot , but I could only dunk on an 8' rim .
That's mighty white of me . I AM a cracker but I don't eat crackers anymore . Go figure .
Talking Heads hired guys from James Brown's old band to play real funky white music ;
boy howdy, was it some good jams too ! Rob Van Winkle was forced out of Rap by mean black
people, people whose ancestors had their music ripped off and profited from by white d-bags .
It's a crazy world, aint it ?
