What Are You Listening To?
jazzboCR Wrote:Remarkable prescience on somebody's part--just another pair albeit excellent in the '70's becomes testaments of the times in this new Century. Both are outstanding...and this comes from no fan of Tull's.

i was never a fan of Jethro Tull's until a couple of years ago jazzbo...
couldnt stand them at all, then Jerome thought and recommended "heavy horses" and "songs from the wood" to me...
i bought them, listened to them and loved both of them inmmdeiately...
so in two years ive now purchased four more JT albums and the Ian Anderson "thick as a brick II"...
of the seven i own now...the original "thick as a brick" is probably my least favourite..and that is the "classic they were known for???!

i guess what im trying to say jazzbo is...
never say you are not a fan of any artist, its better to come in after the fact than not at all...

Peter Gabriel was another one i couldnt stand upto six months ago, then i saw a clip of him on "later with jools"..loved the track, discovered which album it came off(courtesy of Jerome once again),bought it and he also reco'd another album i should probably listen to at some point...i bought that one too!

Never much a fan of Jackson Browne as a performer but listen to what he does with this R&B classic--I even like the lead-in song (a traveling musician's lament): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pHlX1xGARA << What a jolt the 1st time I heard it! David Lindley sings.

Yes Noddy Holder had a very powerful voice and I think John Lennon once described him as ''that guy with a voice Like mine''

Slade were one of rock and roll's greatest rock groups IMO...with Noddy Holder supplying, possibly, the greatest rock vocal chords/voicebox ever.
BTW as a spot of trivia...
Slade were the first artist on the UK charts to have three singles debut on the chart list at #1....
The Jam were second to achieve that feat.

Good stuff. I never heard this before-which is why I am here-but I like it. I am just getting into some music I have not heard so I can have more material. This helps a lot!
