All the recent rappin' has me listening to Everlast (Erik Francis Schrody), which I do from time to time anyway (good for road trips). Heâs probably scorned by purist rap/hip hop aficionados because of his crossover, bluesy style - I like to think that if Santana chose to record with him, he canât be all that crap. Heâs not unintelligent, at least, and his musicality is without question. Hereâs âPut Your Lights Onâ, a Grammy award-winning duet with Carlos Santana - a song mostly of hope, according to Everlast, who wrote it coming out of a dark place - recovering from a major heart attack. Donât know what category this slots into, so alternative it is!

A lot of songs about motherhood here. Only one track I love and plenty I don't care for. Not much music on some tracks, piano only. And her
controversial statements continue, having to make apologies for some. You cannot say anything bad about U2 in Ireland. Although sales for this
exceeded the covers album it didn't come close to her breakthrough and is her last album to go gold in the UK.

UK alt band's fifth studio album...
music is sparse/minimalistic for the most part on this one, lyrics very dour and vocals much the same...
nowhere near as good as their fourth album,"the seldom seen kid", which i also own,and like a lot...
this one is their second best seller(after the aforementioned one) and managed to go platinum in their homeland...
allmusic and all the other online music sites rate this one highly averaging 4/5, me, as usual im way off the mark with the experts...

Wrapping up my shinehead collection with a fair album. No outstanding tracks but only off the wall on one. Her first album in 6 years and the
first to not reach gold status, other than in Australia where she seems to be the most popular. Her overall sales continued to decline after
this but she had already made her mark. Many producers on this album including Dave Stewart and Brian Eno.

debut solo effort from the former Jam bassist....
it was always going to be a difficult act trying to follow the success of The Jam(even Weller's Style Council never quite got there),
but with Foxton who was a part time vocalist and writer for those guys it was never going to be easy....
like Weller,Foxton strayed away from the trademark Jam sound...pretty much 1980s pop on here and a couple of ballad type songs,
there is one that is a bit more heavy sounding and that was the lead off single "freak"....
that track was written after Foxton saw "the elephant man" movie.
a couple of tracks in "trying to forget you" and "you make me laugh",well, if you read between the lines they could either be about a brokendown relationship with a woman
or about the anger he held for Weller after he disbanded The Jam right at their commercial peak...Foxton has never spoken about these tracks publicly but his hatred for all things Weller was well documented at the time....
after the failure of this album Foxton joined UK band Stiff Little Fingers for several albums before going back to his furniture making/polishing business until the mid 00's when he formed a Jam covers band called "from the jam", more recently he and Weller buried the hatchet, healed the wounds and Foxton played on Weller's 2010 album "wake up the nation", he then made guest appearances on Weller's UK tour in the same year, since then he has released another solo album,on which, Weller played guitar....
the cd version of this album contains three bonus tracks, a Foxton b-side "sign of the times" and two covers...Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4" and Temptations "get ready", both of those covers are crap and arent required or warrented for release!

Didn't realize this was their last album. The band never hit it big with only 2 gold albums and this one only charted in the UK. Biggest hit came from the Pretty In Pink soundtrack. Always loved Richard Butlers voice and he's still in good form here. Two singles released from this and neither charted. They should have went with my fav and the only thing I love here. Though this is the bands last album, they reformed in 2000 and continue to do concert tours.

Calexicoâs Carried to Dust. An excellent album, IMHO. I really enjoy the fusion of sounds these guys have created, and theyâre good songwriters. There are a number of tracks that I love on this release â they get under your skin. Here's one of them - âRed Bloomsâ -

FATHER JOHN MISTY "fear fun" cd, 2012
albums...........1

Joshua Tillman,ex-member of Fleet Foxes.....
this is his seventh solo set but the first under the name Father John Misty...
lots of folky tunes here, some things even border on country....
he sites Pete Seeger as his major influence, but i cant hear it in these tracks...
lots of lovely melodies, harmonies and music on this one...
not much of a seller anywhere, failing to make the charts and no singles lifted off it made it one of those forgotten/hidden treasures from 2012...
infact i'd not heard of this one until MH pointed out that it would be right up my alley...
not a great album by any means, but consistant in quality, and well worth seeking out if you like beautiful harmonies, melodies, acoustic sounds and real music!
"allmusic" rates this one 4/5, converted to a more than respectable 2.4 on the MHRS(msuic head rating system)

.............Sunny Side Of The Street
Band lasted around 10 years with Shane McGowan as the lead vocalist. His alcoholism probably and not being reliable led to the demise. Joe Strummer
produces this album and joined the band for a brief spell after Shane left. Best known song (not on here) is Fairytale of New York with Kirsty MacColl
which made it to #2 in the UK. No hits to be found on this one. This was the last album with Shane in front. There are a couple of songs here where he
is not the vocalist and they suck. Assuming that is Spider Stacey as he took over after Strummer departed. The band had 2 albums after this which I
have not heard. They reformed with Shane in 2001 but only for tours.
