"psuedologia fantastica"............... no chart action
"best friend"...............................#119 US, #86 CAN
"are you what you want to be?".... no chart action
second album by these Californians...
"torches"(the debut album) and the superhit single "pumped up kicks" was always going to be a hard act to follow...and it was.
this one has nothing remotely close to that single mentioned previously and the whole album is a bit of a let down for me...
good job i bought this upon release based upon the other album because if i had heard anything from it first i wouldnt have bothered...
their next album is going to have to be something reallu special for me to purchase it, sad really, because they had the world at their feet with
the great little catchy tunes on "torches"...
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

Can asocial/anti-social individuals Foster the People? I know that we can flagrantly flippantly fester folks...<< The rest of the lyrics are yours to provide.

.............Motherfucker
Bought this for the standout Phone Booth track and I probably did a wth? when I first heard it. Three other tracks I liked but 6 I didn't. Too alternative I guess. Even the
Phone Booth track is out there, but the B.B. King sample sucked me in. The band began under the name I-Rails as a 3 piece with O'Connor as the frontman. After 4
albums the band split but O'Connor continued to work on the left behind tracks and released them as Primitive Radio Gods. It was disregarded by the public so he hung
it up to pursue a career as an air traffic controller. Four years later he was house cleaning and came across the masters. He sent out copies to any label he could think
of. It got him a deal with Fiction records when an executive heard the Phone Booth track. That song was first used in the Jim Carey movie The Cable Guy. That four year
old album then got re-released with Phone Booth as a single and the album went gold. The band was re-united and four albums since then have not come close to that
success. Looks like a 1 hit wonder at this point.

ROBIN AULD "fingers in my pocket" cd, 2011
a gift from a member of MD(sorry, not mentioning your name incase you didnt want me to)....
i put the album in Alternative because it has elements of blues/folk/jazz and slight reggae sounds but doesnt seem to fit totally in any of those...
according to wiki his major influences were Santana,Ry Cooder and Neil Young which is in line with all the styles in his music...
Robin is a South African artist who has released some twenty albums in his career...
like i said, lots of styles combined in the tracks here...
fantastic vocals...slightly rough yet smooth, and powerful yet mellow at the same time...
there is also a slight feel of Aussie band Bondi Cigars in his sound, yet, neither artist have probably heard of the other one...
allup a fantastic album from any artist at the thirty year mark of his career...
im looking foreward to delving deeper into his career at some point.
shame theres little on youtube for this guy,and especially from this album, but i'll post links to all the songs i can...
and ive just thought about what these songs sound like to me....the Stills-Young Band "long may you run" album
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
worst track: charlene
best track: martha's aces

Had to have picked this up cheap. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. By the charts, a one hit wonder. This debut album went top 10 and multi-platinum here and in
Canada. Nothing else has come close. Surprised they are still around, with an album just last year. The stupid lyrics are what keep me from liking most of this. Even the
songs I like have stupid lyrics, so those have to be the music. If you want this album come and get it.
allmusic slams this in the review, then gives it a 4.0. wth?

i remember the singles from this one very well.....unfortunately!
they were very catchy back in the day, "lump" wasnt too bad, neither was "dune buggy"...
cudos though, for listening to an entire album by those guys...
but then again,
compared to most of the music out there today...this is probably a 'rock classic'...lmao

JACK WHITE "lazaretto" cd, 2014

Jack's second solo effort...
not sure how "blunderbuss" scored when i posted it, and dont care, but this one is a much more cohesive set of tracks, unlike most of his
material which seems slapped together to call it an album...same sort of 'whatever' attitude Neil Young appears to have...no wonder they hit it off
as buddies and collaborators last year!
so, with Jack's move to Nashville and absorbing all the sounds that happen there, its no wonder there are distinct country elements on this one...
even when the music inst country, the melodies and tunes are...and when the msuic is country orientated, surprisingly, the songs are also...
still some of his scratchy, messy sonic sounds on here also...none moreso than on the the abysmal title track, whhc incidently, is IMO, the worst song he has ever
recorded, yet, strangely enough...it was the lead off single from this one...maybe he was trying to let his diehard fans know that he "hasnt sold out"?!?!
all up though, a pretty darn good, complete(wll almost complete, collection of tracks...
BTW...his appearance always seems to remind me of Edward Scissorhands(minus the scissors)...
so if they ever make a movie about the life of Jack White no-one but Johnny Depp should be allowed to portray him!
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Follow up to their multi-platinum debut. This one was lucky to make gold. And it was downhill from here as far as the groups chart success. Four albums since this have
not charted. This album fails for me even more than the first one. Came away only liking 4 tracks. The consolation is that I like my favorite here more than my favorite on
the debut (Lump). See you have to focus on the positive. Now if you want this cd come and get it.
