oh hey, almost forgot...
i used to get pocketmoney when i was young for doing small chores around the house...and for some reason i started buying singles,the first single i ver bought was "grease" by Franki Valli...
after a while i realised that if i save up for three weeks i could buy a whole album with 10 or 12 tracks instead of three singles containing a total of 6 tracks, thought that value was with albums overall...
so unless i really wanted a single that week i would usually wait for an album....
so i guess, i should start where it all began for singles with me...

obviously, from the motion picture soundtrack....
reached either #1 or top10 in most countries....
still a classic single IMO and written by the Brothers Gibb to boot!
despite being ver disco-ish, i still love this track!
the "b" side was the instrumental version, which was a bummer, but whatever.
the instrumental "B"side is not available on youtube!

The reason you mention ( "Why buy some singles when the album's due soon with much more?), means you may be delightfully surprised by the prices those singles fetch these days--a lot of other folks felt the same but collectors these days...? Just for a cheap thrill, look at some auction prices of some of your stuff--not enough maybe to buy a house or secure your retirement but can provide for delightful house furnishings and/or spiffing plantings around the abode and/or upgrade the motor vehicle/get a 2nd/3rd one (surely you want a Vincent Black Shadow or a trike?). Just saying...
