THE GOOD THE BAD & THE QUEEN "the good the bad & the queen" cd, 2007

career stats:
studio albums......1
singles................3

this album.................#2 UK, #28 AU, #49 US
singles:
"herculean"...............#22 UK
"kingdom of doom"....#20 UK
"green fields"............#51 UK

one and only album by these guys, however all three main members did play together again on the next two Gorillaz albums....
a conceptual album about modern life in 2006/07 London, thus the title "the good the bad and the queen"....
the songs, musically, are very sparse in nature and theres no harmonies/back up vocals anywhere....
just simple music with vocals....
ive just realised that Damon's vocals have a distinct Ray Davies quality about them in his vocal tones...
this os one of those albums that you either really like or dislike with a passion, theres no inbeteeen here, infact, it took me
several years to appreciate this one and ive been a big fan of Damon Albarn since his Britpop days with Blur...
and like him or loathe him, youve got to give him credit for always doing somethin unexpected instead of staying in his comfort zone
of writing and performing the so-called "three minute pop song"....

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Really should have followed up on this band. Just misses a love score with this one. And I can't believe they've never charted here. A guest spot from Michael Stipe on
Broken Promise didn't do much for me. Love the Follow The Cops track. I get a Morrisey and Bowie vibe from the live clip. This dude is very strange. Says he suffers
from some gender identification bs. Look down bud. If you have a penis you're a man.

1st studio album - #3 US
singles - Cursed Female -

Side project for Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell after that band took time off for rehab. I guess Perry didn't need it. Debut album charted high here. Those 2
singles did much better on the Modern Rock chart. Just a continuation of JA for me. With the distinctive Farrell vocals and 2 JA members that would be expected. No
standouts for me on this. Even my fav was a push with the video taking away from it. Lucky I had already decided based on the music.

This doesn't fare much better than the first one. Thought I liked Jane's Addiction but now I'm not even sure about that. Would have to revisit. New bassist Mike Watt
from Minutemen had joined the group and Dave Navarro from JA gets a guest spot. The album bombed in comparison to the debut and the band called it quits.

Alan Parsons’ A Valid Path, primarily because of the Everest related track, “Chomolungma” – feeling so heartsore for the thousands of people who have been affected by the devastating Nepalese earthquake.

Strange album – every time I listen to it, it grows on me a little more. I have no idea how to classify it, hence the posting in ‘Alternative’ … electronic prog rock?? It defies clear categorisation.

Under the present circumstances, I find this track to sound quite sinister - AP (and his son, to give him some credit) got it right, yet again.

ICEHOUSE "white heat:30 hits" 2011

career stats:
studio albums..............8
singles.......................39

this album stats: #5 AU

Aussie synth-pop,alt-pop/rock band who were pretty big here throughout the 1980s and the early 1990s....
started life called Flowers who released one album called "icehouse"....
they changed their name to the title of their debut album after there was already a band in Europe called Flowers and were already well known
in that part of the world....
vocalist Iva Davies has a distinct Bowie quality to his vocals, from his phrasing of words/lines through to the tones of those vocals...
band started off in the late 1970s as a pub-rock band covering the likes of T-Rex,Bowie/Lou Reed etc, so the influences were there...
lots of catchy pop songs on here...
i was actually slightly worried how this one would turn out, wasnt sure if i would still like these guys after all these years, and listening to a two disc
30 track set to boot, but i neednt have worried, this is a pretty good set of high quality singles from one of Australia's finest bands, its just a shame
they never really took off outside of Australia/New Zealand as they probably should have...
best thing about this set is that all the singles are in chronological order...i like that in compilation sets because it gives a great insight into how a band/
artist progresses over albums/years and often decades...
pretty hard to choose a best track here but i'll go for the slow haunting "man of colours" track this time

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Wire- Wire (2015)

14th Album, a fresh effort from the ever evolving Wire. I saw them live on their current tour last month at King Tut's and they were absolutely fantastic. Not a hint of nostalgia for a band who has clocked up 39 years and still counting!

Damn, FeedMe is on a roll! This is an hour concert of a music popular in Colombia, La Cumbia. Great stuff. For a track listing, click the YT logo, then "Show More".
Personal Note: I could look at Paisas all day long. Keep those R's rollin'.
