I always listen to your links in this thread Ruby but rarely comment(but yes, I do click on them ALL!)....
i'd never heard of this band before....
when the vocals started I got a very John Lennon feel coming out of it and at about the two minute mark with the electric guitar really coming in I got a distinct "white album" feel also...
good stuff and thanks for your posts(especially the ones I consider obscure or unknown to these ears)

this one was a stand alone/non album track single by Paul McCartney and Wings back around 1974....
it really wasn't a huge hit for them but it sold reasonably well cracking the top20 in most countries...
its one of my personal favourites of Macca's but is sadly overlooked when it comes to those "best of" lists of his songs...

Oh dear lord. Iâll have to bear that in mind so as not to drive you genuinely Crazy!! Lol! Seriously â thanks, and I too listen to many links that I donât comment on. I have a rule for myself in the Artist/Album Association thread that I will only post an album I either own, or have listened to in its entirety and the track will be my fav unless I canât find a satisfacotry link on YT. Itâs a good way to explore music that is new to me, as opposed to new music, which I mostly couldnât be bothered with â thereâs still way too much of the stuff out there that I know Iâll enjoy and havenât yet heard!
Re The Greatest Show on Earth â they were shortlived despite being well thought of â bad timing seems to have had a role to play, but probably a combination of factors, as always. It might interest you to know that the bass player, Norman Watt-Roy, went on to join Ian Dury and The Blockheads and has had a hugely successful forty+ year run. Also played with The Clash, Roger Daltrey and Wilko Johnson.
You may recognise this one, from TGSOEâs second and final studio album, which the Hollies also covered â¦

I can't open your link on my phone Ruby, I'll get back to it when I turn on my laptop tomorrow...
You have roughly the same rule for the thread I do in having owning it,
That's why I can go several weeks without posting in the thread....

back to your link Ruby....
not a bad version, I know the Hollies version and own it on a vinyl somewhere, as a big Hollies fan I still prefer their version.
the bass player went on to play with several of my favourite artists also...Ian Dury, Clash & Daltry,
so i'll have to investigate The Greatest Show On Earth further at some point,
again, thanks for the intro into their music as two days ago i'd never heard of them....to coin a Music Phrase:
so much music to discover, so little time on this earth to do so!
