The beatles and beyond...the solo careers
I tend to be a little cautious with regards of hearing an album or song for the first time. A recent example was Bowie's album The Next Day (with that stupid album cover)...it had no impression on me upon my first listen...I went back to it later and it's pure Bowie!...a very good album that was highly successful around the world.

Getting back to the initial thread, I always find something attractive in Paul's recordings....his knack for a good song melody is apparent on his original albums throughout his long career of over 50 years! I enjoyed the Kisses on the Bottom album...a nice tribute to the American Songbook so to speak.

I played Press to Play recently...an album that was bastardised by the critics,,,but there are a few gems in the Beatlistic vein ...like this one!

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:oh...ok, i thought you meant a lot more albums than the two previous to "new"(previous two 2012 "kisses on the bottom" and 2007 "memory almost full", previous to those were 2005's "chaos and creation" and 2001's "driving rain")

"Memory Almost Full" was actually almost complete then he shelved it to record "Chaos & Creation....", thus C&C was released first....

a bit like "let it be" and "abbey road"..."let it be" was recorded first then shelved in favour of "abbey road".

i still dont like "chaos and creation in the backyard", "kisses on the bottom" or "new"....
should he release another album at some point i will be listening to it first....gone are the days of me buying Macca albums upon release(on release day)

i also wont be buying anymore Neil Young albums prior to hearing them neither....

Paul Weller releases his new album next week, its called "saturns pattern"...if im not impressed with it then that will be the last Weller album i buy prior to listening to it.

with the weller album....
i have used my giftcard vouchers to pre-purchase the vinyl in its factory wrapping and also the cd to play.
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!
