Jerome Wrote:Next up - UB40 - Signing Off - the only album of theirs that I like. Very different from the norm at the time it was released. Minimalistic reggae for want of a better description. The Johnny Walker wisdom's running high............
i have this one on vinyl also.....
im not a fan of reggae as a whole but i love that album.
for those who dont know "UB40" is the form used to the UK Social Security office by applicants who wish to sign on for the unemployment benefit scheme.
the album title "signing off" was what these Birmingham boys did when they got their recording contract(singed off the dole!)
King,Tyler,Food For Thought.....fantastic tracks IMO.....
didnt take long for them to go all commercial after this one,did it?!
i used to love these guys back in the day, have four or five albums on either cassette or vinyl and a lot of their singles also....
i find them boring and 'without soul' now, just cant bare to listen to them....
again,
i should revisit "signing off" from the vinyl boxes....
thanks Jerome, you have just sparked my memory into remembering just how good this one and Synchronicity were/are.
now, if i could just find those albums in the storage boxes in the shed.....
