radio in the UK refused to play Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody because of the length of it but rebel BBC Radio host Kenny Everett played it anyway....he was instantly dismissed from the network, but the rest is history with that track....
the question that will always remain unanswered though is....
would it have been a mega-hit had it not been played on radio????
as some songs that are brilliant that don't get played bomb on the charts whilst others sell because they are banned or not given airplay....we'll never know I guess, but it doesn't matter anyway as the fact remains it was a huge hit and probably their most ambitious release ever(probably one of the most ambitious releases ever for its recording complexity)....
Anybody hear Kanye West's disastrous version of Bohemian Rhapsody at Glastonbury? Atrocious - and this from a man who claims he is the greatest living rock star on the planet. Self delusional fool.
