Streaming means listening to music online ie: sites like Spotify....
Spotify listens counted towards the singles chart in the UK in July of 2014....
now, I may be assuming this, but if the UK do it, then I suspect other countries do it also...
so with this being the case, it would be technically possible and plausible that a song could reach #1 on the charts without actually having one solitary sale behind it?!?!

I only discovered this about streaming counting towards the chart figures a couple of weeks ago when it was revealed that Adele would not allow her album "25", or tracks off it to be streamed and the UK media pointed out that "hello" made it to #1 on actual physical and digital sales without the aid of sites like Spotify....
