HEART – Dreamboat Annie

Another one from the pile of records. Not obscure or anything like that, but I did not have it before …
These sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson were great, and unsurprisingly, hugely popular at the time – 1975. Ann had/has a magnificent voice for rock – effortlessly true. I know Little Queen fairly well, and am familiar with some of the songs from Dreamboat Annie but am not very well acquainted with the rest of their catalogue.
This is a good mix and the production/presentation is excellent; liner notes on quality card and a gatefold filled with photos, all very slick. Great strategy to make and package a quality debut album – it sets the tone IMHO. Their career was in the competent hands of Mike Flicker who discovered, signed and produced them. He didn’t do too badly out of the deal either – win, win for everyone.
The “Dreamboat Annie” song/theme is made in three sections that are spread throughout the album. This is the reprise and the final tack … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVLHqB7x5KE
One of their better known singles and a rocker … “Crazy on You” …
