Australian 'singles' charts overview for 9th April 2016:

It’s a big week for Danes Lukas Graham! Not only has their self-titled album topped the Albums Chart, ‘7 Years’ has picked up its eighth straight week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. It becomes the longest run at #1 on the Singles Chart by a Danish act, overtaking Aqua’s ‘Doctor Jones’ (#1 Dec. 97).
A jump of eleven spots for their cover of Simon & Garfunkel gives Disturbed their first top ten on the ARIA Singles Chart. The album Immortalized has moved up a further six spots this week to sit at #7.
In its second week in the top 50, Gnash’s ‘I Hate U, I Love U’ has jumped 21 spots. Olivia O'Brien originally wrote and recorded the track. The version currently charting is a reworking by the two artists.
Up six spots from last week, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ gives The Chainsmokers a second top ten for 2016, following on from ‘Roses’ (#5 Feb. ’16).
It may have only moved up two spots but that move means ‘No’ becomes Meghan Trainor’s fifth top ten on the ARIA Singles Chart.
Little Mix have moved up eleven spots to #27 with ‘Secret Love Song’.
Debuts:
#35: Broods ‘Free’ – New Zealand duo Broods make their top 50 debut on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Free’. It’s the first single to come from their forthcoming second album, the follow-up to Evergreen (#5 Sept. ’14).
#43: Drake Feat. Wizkid & Kyla ‘One Dance’ – The second single to chart from Drake’s forthcoming album Views From The 6, following on from ‘Summer Sixteen’ (#25 Feb. ’16). It’s the Canadian rapper’s fifth top 50 appearance as a lead artist.
#45: Safia ‘Make Them Wheels Roll’ – After charting as featured artists on Peking Duk’s ‘Take Me Over’ (#6 Dec. ’14), fellow Canberrans Safia pick up their first top 50 entry in their own right with ‘Make Them Wheels Roll’.

Debuts for The Last Shadow Puppets, Babymetal, Pet Shop Boys and more!
It’s another week and another new #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Danish band Lukas Graham debuting in the top spot with their self-titled album (see below).
On the back of their current success on the Singles Chart with their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound Of Silence’, Disturbed’s former #1 album Immortalized has moved up a further seven spots this week to sit at #6.
Moves this week come from Ed Sheeran’s X (up nine to #10), Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface (up eight to #16) and Essential Michael Jackson (up eleven to #27).
The week's highest re-entry comes from Little Mix’s Get Weird. It’s back at ##29 as ‘Secret Love Song’ continues its move up the Singles Chart. This week it’s at #27).
Debuts:
#1: Lukas Graham ‘Lukas Graham’ – Danes Lukas Graham pick up a #1 double this week. On top of ‘7 Years’ claiming its record-breaking eighth week at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart, the band’s self-titled album has claimed the #1 on the Albums Chart. The album includes tracks from their first two European albums, including ‘7 Years’.
#7: Babymetal ‘Metal Resistance’ – The ARIA Charts debut for Japanese J-pop/metal band Babymetal. It’s their second album, following on from 2014’s self-titled debut. They become the first Japanese act to ever chart in the top 50 in their own right. Yoko Ono peaked at #4 in February 1984 with the album Milk & Honey, a collaboration with John Lennon.
#9: The Last Shadow Puppets ‘Everything You’ve Come To Expect’ – Eight years on from The Age Of The Understatement (#30 Apr. ’08), Arctic Monkey Alex Turner returns to side project The Last Shadow Puppets for second album Everything You've Come To Expect. It’s the second installment in a trilogy of albums to be released by the band.
#11: In Stereo ‘She’s Rock N Roll’ – 2015 X Factor contestants In Stereo make their Albums Chart debut with She's Rock N Roll. The EP features originals co-written by the three 16 year old Sydneysiders, Chris, Jake and Ethan.
#12: Pet Shop Boys ‘Super’ – Electro pop legends Pet Shop Boys return with their thirteenth album Super. The follow-up to Electric (#24 Jul. ’13) is their twelfth studio album to reach the top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
#19: Nathaniel Rateliff ‘Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ – The debut ARIA Albums Chart appearance for American singer-songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff and his band The Night Sweats. Prior to formation of The Night Sweats, Rateliff had released several solo albums.
#28: Weezer ‘Weezer (White Album)’ – American indie rock legends Weezer nab their eighth top 50 appearance with tenth album Weezer (White Album). The album is the follow-up to Everything Will Be Alright In The End (#45 Oct. ’14). Their highest chart appearance has been with Maladroit (#11 May ’02).
