DAVID GRAY "shine: the best of the early years" cd, 2007
career stats:
studio albums..........10
singles....................22
this album.............no charted action
a compilation of sorts, bringing together Gray's favourite tracks off his first three albums as a teaser
prior to his "best of" set being released a few months later on in late 2007....
mainly acoustic guitar folky sounding material on this one,
sounds vocally a bit like Bob Dylan in places, even some of the tunes and lyrics have a distinct Dylan
vibe for the most part...
hearing shades of Cohen, Peter Sarstedt and Harry Chapin in it also.
other than this, I only have "white ladder"...a classic album in its own right IMO...
I really should get some more of Gray's albums at some point, a quality artist for sure.
nothing I don't like on this one, and around half I absolutely love!
great artist, and a great introduction to his material if youre unfamiliar with it or him!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
worst track: sell, sell, sell
best track: debauchery
