Weekly music charts for 2016
AUSTRALIAN charts for 6th August 2016:

singles:


Major Lazer remains atop the ARIA Singles Chart for a second week with ‘Cold Water’. It becomes the trio’s longest run in the top spot, with previous #1 ‘Lean On’ (#1 Apr. ’15) only holding #1 for one week.
A jump of seven spots for ‘Crash’ gives Usher his twelfth top ten on the ARIA Singles Chart and first since ‘More’ peaked at #7 in 2011. The R&B star first hit the top ten with ‘You Make Me Wanna’ (#6 Apr. ’98) and has scored #1s with ‘Yeah!’ (#1 Mar. ’04) and ‘OMG’ (#1 May ’10).
After debuting at #42 last week, Jonas Blue’s ‘Perfect Strangers’ becomes this week’s biggest mover, jumping 31 spots to #11.
There are also moves this week for Shawn Mendes’ ‘Treat You Better’ (up one to a new peak at #4), Anne-Marie’s ‘Alarm’ (up three to #7), Twenty One Pilots’ ‘Heathens’ (up 14 to #19), Mike Perry’s ‘The Ocean’ (up 12 to #27) and Snakehips’ ‘Cruel’ (up seven to #34).
Debuts:
#2: The Chainsmokers Feat. Halsey ‘Closer’ – The fourth Singles Chart entry for The Chainsmokers. ‘Closer’ becomes the American DJ duo’s highest debut and peak. They’ve previously charted with ‘#SELFIE’ (#3 Apr. ’14), ‘Roses’ (#5 Feb. ’16) and ‘Don't Let Me Down’ (#3 Apr. ’16).
#26: Kenny Chesney Feat. P!nk ‘Setting The World On Fire’ – The debut ARIA Singles Chart entry for American country Kenny Chesney. Featuring P!nk, ‘Setting The World On Fire’ is the second single from Chesney’s forthcoming seventeenth studio album, Cosmic Hallelujah. Chesney has had three albums appear in the top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart, peaking highest with The Big Revival (#31 Oct. ’14).
#40: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Feat. Xperience ‘Brad Pitt’s Cousin’ – The third single to chart from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s second album This Unruly Mess I've Made (#6 Mar. ’16). It follows on from ‘Downtown’ (#1 Oct. ’15) and ‘Dance Off’ (#7 Mar. ’16).

For the second straight week, Human Nature’s Gimme Some Lovin': Jukebox Vol. II is #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Of the Sydney group’s four #1 albums, Dancing In The Streets: The Songs Of Motown II has the most weeks at #1 with four.
This week’s top five features four Australian artists. The only non-Aussie is Adele, who’s moved up one spot to #3 with 25.
The biggest moves up the chart this week come from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ This Unruly Mess I’ve Made (up 14 to #11), Sia’s This Is Acting (up 20 to #18) and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (up five to #23).
Troye Sivan has re-entered the chart at #27 with Blue Neighbourhood. It comes on the back of his current national tour.
Debuts:
#2: Gang Of Youths ‘Let Me Be Clear’ – Just over a year on from The Positions, Sydney’s Gang Of Youths return with Let Me Be Clear. The new release is a six track EP which includes a cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Both Sides Now’. The Positions debuted at #5 in April 2015 and earned the band five ARIA Awards nominations last year.
#4: Hellions ‘Opera Oblivia’ – The third album from Sydney post-hardcore band Hellions. The follow-up to Indian Summer (#19 Feb. ’15), Opera Oblivia becomes the band’s highest-charting album and first top ten.
#5: Alfie Arcuri ‘Zenith’ – 2016 winner of The Voice Alfie Arcuri makes his Albums Chart debut with Zenith. The album features covers of tracks by the likes of James Bay, Daniel Merriweather, Zayn and Sam Smith.
#6: DJ Khaled ‘Major Key’ – The top 50 debut for American producer DJ Khaled. Major Key is DJ Khaled’s ninth album and includes collaborations with Jay Z, Future, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Meghan Trainor and more.
#19: Descendents ‘Hypercaffium Spazzinate’ – Veteran Californian punks the Descendents snare their first ever top 50 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Hypercaffium Spazzinate. The band’s seventh album is their first since 2004’s Cool To Be You and the first since regrouping in 2010.
#26: Billy Talent ‘Afraid Of Heights’ – Canadian punk band Billy Talent return with their first album in four years, Afraid Of Heights. It’s the band’s fifth album and third to chart in the top 50 locally; having previously charted with Billy Talent III (#44 Jul. ’09) and Dead Silence (#36 Sept. ’12).
#35: Zhu ‘Generationwhy’ – After making his ARIA Albums Chart debut with The Nightday EP (#6 May ’14), Zhu picks up a second entry with Generationwhy. The American producer’s debut album features the single ‘Working For It’ (#30 Feb. 16).
#38: Soundtrack ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ – The soundtrack to the film adaptation of popular British comedy Absolutely Fabulous. The album includes tracks by Kylie Minogue (singing a new version of the theme tune ‘This Wheel’s On Fire’), Paloma Faith, La Roux, Jason Derulo, Eartha Kitt, Nancy Sinatra, Santigold and more.
#40: Jarryd James ‘High’ – A year on from Thirty One (#2 Sept. ’15), Brisbane singer-songwriter Jarryd James scores his second Albums Chart entry with High. The new six track EP features the collaboration with NZ duo Broods, ‘1000x’ (#47 Jun. ’16).
