Australian music charts for week ending 24th September 2016:

It’s a seventh week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for The Chainsmokers’ ‘Closer’. The track this week draws equal with Drake’s ‘One Dance’ (#1 May ’16) for the second most weeks at #1 in 2016.
This week’s top five includes moves from Calum Scott’s ‘Dancing On My Own’ (up one to #2), Ariana Grande’s ‘Side By Side’ (up two to #3) and Hailee Steinfeld’s ‘Starving’ (up five to #5).
A move of eight spots gives Ellie Goulding’s ‘Still Falling For You’ a new peak. It comes in the same week the album it is the lead single for, Bridget Jones's Baby, debuts at #5.
Debuts:
#13: Calvin Harris ‘My Way’ – After topping the Singles Chart for two weeks in June with ‘This Is What You Came For’ (#1 Jun. ’16), Calvin Harris picks up a second chart entry for 2016 with ‘My Way’. It’s the first single since ‘Summer’ (#4 Apr. ’14) to feature Harris on lead vocals.
#25: James Arthur ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ – British former X Factor winner James Arthur returns to the Singles Chart for the first time since 2013 with ‘Say You Won't Let Go’. It’s the first single from Arthur’s forthcoming second album Back From The Edge. Arthur scored his highest peak with debut single ‘Impossible’ (#2 Feb. ’13).
#43: Artists Of Then, Now & Forever ‘Forever Country’ – Released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards, ‘Forever Country’ features 30 well-known country acts performing a mash-up of well-known country hits. The artists included are Alabama, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Brett Eldredge, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Ronnie Milsap, Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Randy Travis, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Trisha Yearwood.

With Backbone, his first album in three years, Anthony Callea has scored his first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in since 2005. It’s the sixtheen Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2016.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ The Getaway has jumped 18 spots from #33 to #15.
Re-entering the top 50 for the first time since June 2013 is ARIA Hall Of Fame inductees Crowded House’s The Very Very Best Of Crowded House at #20.
With single ‘Side By Side’ picking up a new peak at #3, Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman is up eleven spots to #30.
Debuts:
#1: Anthony Callea ‘Backbone’ – Eleven years on from scoring his first #1 with his self-titled debut (#1 Apr. ’05), Anthony Callea returns to the top of ARIA Albums Chart with Backbone. It’s Callea’s fifth studio album and first to hit the top ten since A New Chapter (#9 Dec. ’06). Backbone features stripped-down versions of tracks by the likes of Go West, Steve Winwood, TLC and Wilson Phillips.
#5: Usher ‘Hard II Love’ – Album eight from Usher gives the American R&B star his sixth top ten appearance on the ARIA Albums Chart. Hard II Love is Usher’s first album since Looking 4 Myself (#3 Jun. ’12) and features the single ‘Crash’ (#10 Aug. ’16).
#7: Soundtrack ‘Bridget Jones's Baby’ – The soundtrack to the third Bridget Jones film continues the run of top tens started by Bridget Jones's Diary (#1 Aug. ’01) and Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason (#8 Nov. ’04). Bridget Jones's Baby includes tracks by Ed Sheeran, Lily Allen and the Ellie Goulding single ‘Still Falling For You’ (#21 Sept. ’16).
#9: Die Antwoord ‘Mount Ninji And Da Nice Time Kid’ – South African rap group Die Antwoord snare their first top ten on the ARIA Albums Chart with Mount Ninji And Da Nice Time Kid. It’s their fourth album and third to chart locally, following on from Ten$ion (#38 Feb. ’12) and Donker Mag (#11 Jun. ’14).
#10: Remi ‘Divas And Demons’ – The second studio album from Melbourne rapper Remi. Divas And Demons comes two years on from debut Raw X Infinity (#29 Jun. ’14), which earned Remi the 2014 Australian Music Prize.
#13: Mac Miller ‘The Divine Feminine’ – A year on from making his first Albums Chart appearance with GO:OD AM (#32 Sept. ’15), rapper Mac Miller returns with The Divine Feminine. Miller’s fourth studio album includes collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak, Ty Dolla Sign and Ariana Grande, among others.
#21: Harts ‘Smoke Fire Hope Desire’ – Melbourne artist Harts makes his top 50 debut with Smoke Fire Hope Desire. The multi-instrumentalist’s second album is the follow-up to 2014’s debut Daydreamer.
#33: Led Zeppelin ‘The Complete BBC Sessions’ – The Complete BBC Sessions is a remastered and expanded version of 1997’s BBC Sessions. It features all of the tracks Led Zeppelin recorded for the BBC between 1969 and 1971. On its original release, the album peaked at #60, meaning this is its top 50 debut.
