its probably because most (99%) of mainstream/top50 music is one dimensional, has no soul, is mostly extremely autotuned, uses the same computer generated beats as just about every second song on the charts...
now don't say I don't/wont listen to modern music because I randomly pick at least eight "new release" albums rom all genres to listen to each and every week,
at least 60% of what I hear is pure crap, I never want to hear it again, another 30% would be passable or likeable, the remaining 10% would be on my list to purchase
by years end....
and yes, even if I dislike an album by an artist, if their next one comes up as a random pick I will still listen to it because I never know if there will be anything on it

the act remains, I dislike most of what is in the top50 on any given week because I do not like the song, period.
