After dropping to #2 for a week, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ returns to the top spot to claim it’s record-breaking fourteenth week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The track overtakes Coolio’s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ (#1 Oct. ’95) as the longest-running #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart (the ARIA Charts era covers July 1983 to present).
In its fifth week in the top 50, ‘Symphony’ continues its steady climb up the chart, moving a further three spots to #6.
Dean Lewis’ ‘Waves’ continues its move up the chart, this week moving to just outside of the top 20 at #21.
There are also new peaks this week for Jason Derulo’s ‘Swalla’ (up four to #25), Kyle’s ‘iSpy’ (up six to #36).
Debuts:
#16: Kendrick Lamar ‘DNA.’ – The first of three debuts on the ARIA Singles Chart this week for American rapper Kendrick Lamar. All three debuts come from Lamar’s new album Damn. (#2 this week). ‘DNA.’ includes samples of criticism of Lamar by several Fox News commentators, as well as a sample of the Rick James track ‘Mary Jane’.
#17: Lady Gaga ‘The Cure’ – Lady Gaga releases her first single of 2017, ‘The Cure’. The track was unveiled by the singer-songwriter during her Saturday night headlining set during the weekend of the Coachella festival. Gaga scored two chart entries in 2016: ‘Perfect Illusion’ (#14 Sept. ’16) and ‘Million Reasons’ (#34 Dec. ’16).
#20: Kendrick Lamar Feat. Rihanna ‘Loyalty.’ – Kendrick Lamar’s second new entry for the week. Featuring a guest vocal by Rihanna, ‘Loyalty.’ includes samples of tracks by Bruno Mars, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Jay-Z.
#29: Kendrick Lamar ‘Love.’ – The final new entry for the week from Kendrick Lamar’s #2 album Damn.. ‘Love.’ features German rapper Zacari and American artist Kid Capri.
#31: G-Eazy & Kehlani ‘Good Life’ – American artists G-Eazy and Kehlani team up for ‘Good Life’. The track is the first to chart locally from The Fate Of The Furious: The Album (new at #13 this week). It’s G-Eazy’s second chart entry as lead artist, following ‘Me, Myself & I’ (#19 Feb. ’16). It’s Kehlani’s first entry as lead artist.

It’s week seven at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for Ed Sheeran’s ÷. With ‘Shape Of You’ notching up a record-breaking fourteenth week at #1 on the Singles Chart, it’s the sixth week in 2016 that Sheeran has topped both charts.
A jump of eleven spots to #16 puts Taylor Swift’s 1989 back into the top 20 for the first time since October 2016.
In its seventh week, Remembrance moves up from #27 to a new peak at #20.
With the new Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack released this week, Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is back up ten spots to #25.
Debuts:
#2: Kendrick Lamar ‘Damn.’ – Two years on from topping the ARIA Albums Chart with To Pimp A Butterfly (#1 Mar. ’15), Kendrick Lamar returns with Damn.. The American rapper’s fourth album features the single ’Humble.‘ (#2 Apr. ’17) as well as appearances by Rihanna and U2. Lamar charted last year with the outtakes compilation untitled unmastered. (#3 Mar. ’16). To Pimp A Butterfly is back in the chart this week at #30.
#3: Mark Vincent ‘A Tribute To Mario Lanza’ – Sydney tenor Mark Vincent scores his fourth top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart with A Tribute To Mario Lanza. The album sees Vincent singing tracks made famous by singer/actor Mario Lanza. Vincent last hit the top ten with Songs From The Heart (#10 Oct. ’11).
#5: John Mayer ‘The Search For Everything’ – With his seventh studio album, singer-songwriter John Mayer picks up his sixth top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart. The Search For Everything is Mayer’s first studio release since Paradise Valley (#1 Sept. ’13) and features contributions from Sheryl Crow and Beach Boy Al Jardine, among others.
#13: Soundtrack ‘The Fate Of The Furious: The Album’ – The soundtrack to the eighth instalment in the Fast & Furious film franchise. The Fate Of The Furious: The Album includes tracks by Young Thug, 2 Chainz, Migos, Jeremih and Pitbull, as well as the G-Eazy & Kehlani track ‘Good Life’ (new at #31 on this week’s Singles Chart). Soundtracks from all of the series’ films have charted: The Fast And The Furious (#33 Oct. ‘01), 2 Fast 2 Furious (#26 Jun. ‘03), The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift (#77 Jun. ‘06), Fast & Furious (#37 Apr. ‘09), Fast Five (#39 May ‘11), Fast & Furious 6 (#10 Jun. ‘13) and Furious 7 (#3 Apr. ‘15).
#19: Spit Syndicate ‘One Good Shirt Had Us All Fly’ – Hip hop duo Spit Syndicate grab their second entry in the ARIA top 50 with One Good Shirt Had Us All Fly. It’s the Sydney act’s fourth studio album, the follow-up to Sunday Gentlemen (#15 Mar. ’13). Between Spit Syndicate releases, the duo teamed up with Horrorshow, Jackie Onassis and Joyride for the One Day album Mainline (#2 Aug. ’14).
#49: Rhiannon Giddens ‘Freedom Highway’ – American folk artist Rhiannon Giddens makes her ARIA Charts debut with Freedom Highway. The album is Giddens’ second solo studio release. She’s also the lead singer, violinist, banjo player and a founding member of the Grammy-winning country, blues and old-time music band Carolina Chocolate Drops.
