AMBROSE SLADE "beginnings" cd, 1969:
debut set from the UK rockers who ended up being called Slade....
slightly psychedelic in places, soft rock in others...
only two tracks written by the band on here, the remaining eleven are covers
or written by others who were on the cusp of fame themselves...
most prominent covers are "Martha my dear" and "born to be wild"...
a couple of surprises from up-and-comers Jeff Lynne and Frank Zappa complete the package...
you cant hear really what the band will eventually become but Noddy Holder's voice is unmistakable...
not a great album but they were at their 'beginnings' here
one of the two originals from the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
