DAMON ALBARN "Dr.Dee" cd, 2012:
album could have gone in film/stage or classical also
frontman for Blur/Gorillaz...
album is the soundtrack to a British opera written by Albarn...
DR Dee was a historical figure in the UK, being the scientific advisor to Queen Elizabeth I...
and the opera is his supposed life story...
album has some instrumental pieces classical in nature, it also has a few operatic tracks
which are obviously sung by others and not Albarn...
a few folky acoustic tracks sung by Albarn also...
I still cant figure out whether I like this album or not, its one of those hard to put your finger on
it albums....
either way, it puts Damon Albarn into another genre of music and whether its good or bad he is always trying
to stay away from his pop/alternative comfort zone...
from the album, one of the songs Albarn sings, has a bit of a Ray Davies quality to it:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.
