An eclectic mix of vocalists - Maggie Reilly who is great as always and Jon Anderson on one track. I like this album. The 20+ minute opener ...
Oooooh - one of my faves Ruby. The first time I really took notice of Mr. Phillip's drumming abilities. One of my favourite album covers as well.
And a live version of the track - just watch and listen from the 6.50 mark - Mr. Phillips in full flight. Mind-boggling how good this guy is. https://youtu.be/sy8FX-Dyxb8
Yes - excellent drummer - thanks for the clip. My mind boggles every time I see the Hiromi Trio - such incredible talent - all three of them.
Are you familiar with Gordon Giltrap's stuff at all? He's not discussed much here. Simons Phillips was the drummer on three fairly proggy outings he made in the 70's - brilliant guitarist - a true virtuoso. The albums are Visionary, Perilous Journey and Fear of the Dark. This is from Perilous Journey ... extremely tasteful drumming IMHO ... it's a question of finesse, and Phillips has it, in spades ...
