It all goes down to "making a material product". To giving to people what they want, not what you want to give them.
And if you make a living out of music and you have more listeners than me, which is translated to more income, i will admin that i am wrong and that you are right.

On the other hand if you don't live out of music and you claim that you do it for the love of music, you are an amateur.
All you said is nice and might be true on same cases, but it all comes down to how many people you influence and to how you market your product successfully, whatever that is.
