From the obscure annals - an Italian, largely instrumental neo prog/jazz rock band. Highly listenable - this was perfect for today. The core of the band comprises Lorandi family members, brothers and their sons, with Silvano Silva on drums and Andre Piccinelli on keys. Steeped in musicality - very nice. They're called Phoenix Again because they are an incarnation of what was previously Phoenix - they've been recording since 1981. I'll have to go backwards - again!
Two very definite standout tracks for me here ... "Eppur si muore" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYMb1D-GaeY, and the fabulous "Pasión" ... unless I'm very much mistaken, it's Sergio Lorandi's wonderful guitarwork; his influences are Bach, Albeniz, Tarrega, Moreno Torroba, Villa Lobos, Segovia, Castelnuovo Tedesco, Rodrigo & co., - Been listening to this on repeat - it's good and weighty - a bit darker than most of the rest of the album which is fairly easy going, on the whole ...
