^Gorgeous.
Finally managed to listen to Chris Rea's Auberge all the way through today - kept getting stuck due to interruptions. Such a pleasing album. Mr Rea practices economy of notes to brilliant effect. Completely fascinating that such warmth and colour could find its way out of the grey landscape of his origins. He says it like it is too - pulls no punches whatsoever - not an ounce of pretension in him. I read somewhere that when his daughter was quite young, they had to write a story at school about what work their parents did - she thought he had a car repair workshop. Always vehicles in varying stages of assembly all over the place.
