Bert Heerink was born on this day in 1953, in Utrecht, Kingdom of the Netherlands. From what I can gather, he's something of a national treasure and has taken the lead vocal role in many musicals, including the Dutch production of Jeff Waynes Musical Version of The War of the Worlds. In the early days of his career, he was with Vandenberg (so named for Adrian VDB, latterly of Whitesnake) - they had a fairly big hit with the early 80's power ballad "Burning Heart" ...
... amongst other projects, further down the line he joined up with Kayak for a few years, recording and playing live with them. His solo career never quite took off but he certainly seems to have had a fruitful time regardless, what with lifetime achievement awards and all - he's famous for his singing on Heineken commercials, no less!
From Kayak's Night Vision, which I can take or leave, although there are a few decent numbers on it. My only regret on this track is that he pronounces Icarus "I" carus instead of "Ick" arus, but anyway - that's just me being picky!
