Moondog resurfaces! The Ghost Train Orchestra along with Kronos Quartet and various guest artists are presenting, in an altered (while not unrecognisable) guise, the music of Louis Thomas Hardin, aka Moondog, aka the Viking of 6th Avenue. Fascinating character.
The Ghost Train Orchestra is a kinda cool concept - they are "a large ensemble based in Brooklyn and founded by Brian Carpenter in 2006. The group is known for their unique re-imaginings of under-appreciated and often obscure composers. They have recorded and performed extensively in NYC and beyond. They have released four albums, each one critically acclaimed for its originality and vision."

I listened to the original Moondog version as well as the new one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MhwjtkyI2w). I think he'd have approved, but what do I know? I have mentioned him on the forum before (https://www.music-discussion.com/showthr...#pid150028) - found it interesting that contrary to appearances, which would seem to indicate extreme flakiness, everything he did was notated and organised. There's a certain charm about it all. I look forward to hearing the album - Songs and Symphoniques: The Music of Moondog
