Currently - Kayak - Merlin. Also came across a Swedish band called A.C.T. which is apparently eclectic prog - whatever that may be! Probably just defies description, in other words.
Anyway - I listened to Last Epic which has some almost metal moments - the riffs for sure, if nothing else - never quite devolves to the extent that I wanted to stop listening to it though. Huh - not sure I'll listen again but it was far from terrible. They reminded me a bit of Kayak (albeit with shades of Queen and 10cc) which is why I've ended up listening to Merlin.
Prior to the A.C.T. adventure, I tried a band called Emerald Dawn which unfortunately conjures up a garish picture in my mind - not a good one! LOL! The album I listened to was ok but I'm not quite sold. They have a new album in the works. We will see!
Merlin is a very strange album. Side 1 is themed on the legend and Side 2 is a mixture of odd songs. I honestly don't know what was going on in their heads? I'd have thought the subject matter could have been stretched out endlessly but maybe they ran out of creative steam? Hmmm ...
Side 1 is my preference - Side 2, you can keep. I mean - seriously - from "Niniane (Lady of the Lake)" to Boogie Heart?? Eish - as they say in the classics! Speaking of which ...
