A YT video that popped up in my feed – the light went on when I listened – it was a cover of Tim Buckley’s “Phantasmagoria in Two” (the original of which is a strange plinkety sounding song that I have always liked the oddness of, for some reason). This new iteration is Mick Harvey (ex Bad Seeds and Birthday Party) and Amanda Acevedo, a Mexican singer. They're covering songs that were never intended to be duets and with a few originals thrown into the mix as well. I’ve listened to the four that are available to hear (album is due out September the 8th and titled Phantasmagoria in Blue).
Not crazy about the Pat Benatar one, “Love is a Battlefield”, which just doesn’t fit being done in a dirgelike fashion IMHO, but I did find the others somewhat beguiling and different. And I realise that they are quite old songs, (the others) so far – mid-sixties, early seventies ish. I will listen to the whole album once it’s available.
