MANFRED MANN "mighty garvey!" cd 1968
their fifth and final UK release...
a tongue in cheek parody of Sgt Peppers with the Mighty Garvey being a fictional band...
psychedelic rock, baroque pop, jazzy overtones etc....
another solid album by the band...
embracing most of the album as a clever work of artistry excellence..
these guys probably had another couple of albums in them but i guess it was time for Manfred to move on to other pastures musically...
lots of multilayered vocals on here which could be compared to the vocals on Pet Sounds...
lots of influences on here from Kinks, Spencer Davis Group aobviously Beatles and Beach Boys...
album contains two of their best known hits: "ha ha said the clown" and a cover of the Dylan classic "the mighty quinn"..
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
oh the joys of getting older...
