maybe not 'super detrimental' but detrimental nonetheless
an artist cannot tour 12 months of the year (unless they are like Taylor Swift) and unless they are capable of selling out large venues (20,000 seat) then their income will not be much more than the average person on the street once they factor in travel, hotels, venue bookings etc etc.
a lot of major artists including Gene Simmons, Paul Weller, Dave Grohl and Neil Young to name a few all say that streaming is killing the music industry and young artists have no incentive to keep going because the money is not there for them
and that is the whole reason why physical music is better than digital streams
we are just going to have to agree to disagree on this subject, period.
