Many moons ago.....music used to come on big black brittle things that whirled round at frighting speeds (78 RPM) and only contained two tracks..............Against this background the recording people of the day had a special product up their sleeves......................The novelty item.................These ranged from the funny to the downright bizarre.................. These items were hidden gems and it was this influence that combined with eight people became the melting pot that was The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band.....................In the mid 60s Britain was about to go through the labour pains of giving birth to the Monty Python style of humour, which would become the yardstick by which comedy would be measured for decades to come.
In 1966 Vivian Stanshall,( Master of ceremonies on Tubular Bells ) Neil Innes ( Monty Python and Rutland Weekend Television) and six other musicians were recording and performing musical items based on these novelty items from the days of 78s. The art of the day was budding Sgt Pepper and psychedelia and of course pre Monty Python humour. EMI signed this octet and channeled them into producing their first recordings and at last an album( all be it with another label).........and that album was "Gorilla" Gorilla is more than a musical listen...........it is a full blooded piece of entrainment.....................find it .............listen to it and see what I mean

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )
