UK TOP 100 SHORT REVIEW 18.04.25 #29
This week I've had less time, so here's a review of just the new entries!
NEW ENTRIES:
96. Angel Of Mine – Tobiahs (5/10)
It's 2025; can we drop these glitchy 2000s-type club music songs? It's sickening and as messy as the viral Will Smith AI spaghetti video. Just downright something that you've heard somewhere else.
90. Don't Wake Me Up – James Hype (5/10)
It's been a while since James has appeared for me; the last time I remember was with his biggest hit song, 'Ferrari', in 2022, which sampled a Diddy song from the early 2000s. I saw the clips on YouTube where people spoke about which they preferred out of Hype or Diddy. But now he's back, and I'm not sure if this is a sample, but it's pretty basic DJing; it's a looped electronic female voice saying "Don't Wake Me Up", pretty much lazily, and it showcases his over a decade-long career, giving this.
86. Lachryma - Ghost (7/10)
Not a fan of the things the band say and promote, but I must admit that the guitar rock and lead vocals are quite impressive; I see why they're going above many rock acts in the UK charts.
48. Blink Twice – Shaboozey/Myles Smith (7/10)
This just made it into a 7/10 or green rating; that was incredibly tight. Now, I may not be the biggest fan of Myles, and this collaboration may not be a big or even small step to making anything that's more original, but it's pretty damn catchy. It feels like the whole song hits as a hook with the guitar kicking in and the lively melody, which from the start pulls you into the experience quickly. This is a part of Shaboozey's deluxe version of his country album, which contains his hit song 'A Bar Song (Tipsy).'
30. Henry, Come On – Lana Del Rey (8.3/10)
It's Lana's signature; she uses her soft vocals along with slow and expressive instrumentals that help bring across the meaning of the song. It's better than 'Tough' and brings hope for the rest of the album!
