Golden Earring – Moontan and Golden Earring (aka Wall of Dolls). Haven’t listened to this band in some time. While not receiving the extent of the global accolades afforded to UK and American bands of a similar ilk (from what I can tell), they were damn good, IMHO. That said, there are a few influences in evidence, I’d say, ranging from the Rolling Stones to the BeeGees, Jethro Tull and beyond! Of the six tracks on the original release of Moontan, I could have done without two – the same two that were replaced on a later release by one long track “Big Tree Blue Sea” which in turn was on the earlier Golden Earring release and which (slightly shorter) version I prefer to the later one. Anyone confused yet? Anyway – it’s not going to be “Radar Love”, from Moontan, but “Are You Receiving Me” that takes it today … falsetto vibes in among the rockiness …
