David Letts, aka David Vanian was born on this day in 1956 in Hertfordshire, England. Lead vocalist and only continuous member of early punk/gothic rock band, The Damned. His career began with digging graves (unlike Mr Stewart who only actually did a brief stint marking out the plots with string and stuff) and Vanian is derived from Transylvanian. He might have been primarily responsible for the onset of Gothic fashion, at the time!
The Damned had a hit single which they never released on a studio album; their cover of twins, Paul and Barry Ryanâs âEloiseâ. A one hit wonder for Barry, who sang it originally - [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9md5oW00q4"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9md5oW00q4
