I mail out a lot of CD's and DVD's and I use cardboard sleeves because you can send them as oversized mail, which doesn't go through customs, nor cost nearly as much. Also, for labeling, you can print off a sticker and put it on the cardboard, whereas the Jewel case requires a whole lot of printing, cutting, folding and inevitably cracking.
