I just find it interesting how people can tiptoe around their dislike of other genres ("I'm not really a fan of jazz/classical/opera/calypso, but I respect the genre"), yet fire away with both guns when it comes to their dislike of contemporary R&B/Soul and Hip-Hop ("that music, if one can really call it that, is practically worthless because of .... fill-in-the-blank")
It almost seems like a badge of honor to see how thoroughly one can attack the genres. One person starts, then another adds their negative opinion, and that's about all it takes. Before long, people who visit forums supposedly devoted to "all music" discover "all music" really means Rock & Roll and maybe a few related genres such as Blues or Country. There's nothing wrong with that.
However, any forum that wants to build a complete well-rounded audience won't do itself any favors if every other thread in a genre's subforum includes negative opinions of the genre.
Just my two cents.
