Granted, there aren't many bands in Hip Hop, but there are more every year. And many of the larger acts utilize live bands for their concerts.
And by now, I think it's needless to point out that less than half of all Hip Hop albums produced degrade women or focus on other negative topics. Just like you said with contemporary Soul/R&B, you won't find a lot of the good stuff on the radio, but it is definitely out there ... for those interested.
I love the artists you listed in your R&B list! Great stuff there!
