This is an interesting one, Being basically bilingual, gives one some sort of insight into listening in a language other than your own.
For sure the language you listen to the music should not make a difference and infact to the overall sound I don't think it does......................If it is worth listening to then it is worth listening to. That is that
However, i believe when it comes down to understanding that is a different factor.
You will never get the understanding that your own language can give you unless you become very proficient.
Different languages have their own ways of expressing emotion: German has its own style which is unequaled in any other European language but unless you are a native speaker then you will not get access.
Symbolism also matters and is relative to the language .................
I think this is swings and roundabouts
but just because it is in a foreign language does not mean it should be lost to anyone who does not speak that language.
