Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane were in a sense the beginnings of Sgt Pepper.
However the first song recorded for Sgt Pepper was Only A Northern Song which did not make it to the final album...........
Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane were actually part of another intriguing idea for an album...........The Beatles intended at first, to record a concept album about Liverpool.......However EMI were desperate to get a single out after the Beatles stopped touring and pressured them to issue Strawberry Field/Penny Lane.......................I would love to know how the Liverpool album would have progressed if they had gone on with it.

Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )
