We all love music, or we wouldn't be here, but I was thinking last night about how I'd define music. It's a bit like love, easy to know when you experience it, but not so easy to define.
To me it can consist of sound, rhythm, melody, harmony and all the rest, but the real beauty of music is the expression of some sort of idea or emotion wrapped up in a creative outburst.
It all shares a common language which we know as individuals to a greater or lesser extent, but different music means different things to each and every one of us. Infinite meanings, interpretations, and associations exist, so in that sense it's no different to any other artform, but music seems to have a unique universal appeal to mankind.

not sure I can get as serious as you did
just to answer the original question
it means everything to me.
I get up every morning and listen to music, old and new.
Part of what inspires me to get up early, 4 am.
My music time.
As far as what about music inspires me, hell, I don't know.
I've never met in person anyone who loves listening to music as much as I do.
If for some reason I have to miss a day without hearing an entire album, my day seems easily forgettable.
Otherwise I'm fueled with music for the entire day.
